NEUTRA BLUFFS
Pacific Palisades, CA

The Hees House, a thoughtfully restored 1949 Neutra home, is re-imagined with a fresh entry and graphic plantings. Bookended with contrasting experiences of an inward-facing courtyard that is countered by an expansive view of the Pacific Ocean. The structure of the landscape reinforces the strong relationship of indoor and outdoor spaces being blurred as one with a glassed-in planter that feels simultaneously indoor and outdoor.

SILVERLAKE SCHINDLER
Los Angeles, CA

A challenging slope behind a Schindler-designed home is stabilized and brought to life with mixed planting and programming. A traversing path cuts a swath through the previously inaccessible steep hillside to allow travel and enjoyment through the site from bottom to top. The terraced features within the landscape were inspired by the interior structures of built-ins. The series of outdoor terraces and patios operate similarly to provide continued functionality and stylistically appropriate beauty.

A luminous screen creates a private courtyard entrance paired with a graphic plant composition. Hardwood decks with custom railings enhance a balcony and outdoor furnishings throughout the garden are for both daily use and entertaining.

TROUSDALE MODERN

White, black and silver foliage replaces a thirsty lawn for the front garden of a mid-century residence. A low wall in the back is transformed into a generous banquette with matching firepit and a patio is added for poolside seating.
